Mental Diet

Tuesday, August 24th, 2010

I’ve been going through a dramatic of ups-down lately that put me into an resourcefulness and unproductive manner. I can feel there’s a large amount of negativity in my thoughts and in my behavior that  hamper me heavily to maintain my daily routines well and pursue my desires. Struggling myself constantly and squeezing my mind intensively so that I can squeeze out a quantum amount of inspiration to propel me to excel.

I stumbled upon something interesting and maybe enlightening. It was some sort of Self-Help material… and it is a Challenge! and I will take it!

I decided to share with the readers in this post, to witness my decision to undertake these challenges, and I hope at the end of the challenge you guys can tell me whether I am successful or not.

I got this challenge from one of the Self-help genius, Antony Robbins. He is famous so I decided not to do any introduction here.

Before I rant this challenging thingy further, I would like to link Mental challenging with FOOD DIETING. To ease everyone (including me) to picture the so call mental challenges around us…

I have to put a significant amount of time to verified that I actually went through it, so let’s put 10 days into the process… ok, let’s start the challenge by finishing this post ( I felt so ugly to continue this writing now)

.

THE TEN-DAY MENTAL DIET – RULES OF THE GAME

Rule 1. In the next ten consecutive days, refuse to dwell on any resourceful thoughts or feelings. Refuse to indulge in any disempowering questions or devitalizing vocabulary or metaphors.

Rule 1 is so direct and brilliant.

How this method can be link to food dieting:

What are the things that indulge you when you start craving for something tasty or hungry?

, , ,

exactly, above is the kind of food that will bring you down and avoid you being slim and healthy.

How to apply rule 1. into your mental?

In normal circumstances, when one is having problem? they will indulge themselves with negativities,

Example of mental indulgences or so called “dis-empowering patterns:

  1. Cry endlessly
  2. Lazy and avoid facing the problem
  3. Finding Excuses
  4. Angry
  5. Watch Movie
  6. Wait for the problem to become bigger
  7. Smoking or taking coffee

Above are the examples of how our mental can be easily indulged. Sometimes, it makes you dwell with it for a long long time, makes you stagnant. We must train our mind to be harder and strong.

We can remind ourselves that these indulgence are “Signalsto us… if we started  to get indulged, Please remind it in your mind that it is the “Action Signal”  that is triggering in your mind.

.

.

Rule 2. When you catch yourself beginning to focus on the negative, IMMEDIATELY redirect your focus toward a better emotional state.

Rule 2 is another important rule, why? because most of us caught ourselves in a situation whereby we definitely will lose our focus in achieving or change something.

Ask any smokers, how come they think trying stop smoking is so easy? Because they’d done it thousands of time.. they tried to stop and pick it up again………

How this method can be link to food dieting:

When your stomach starts to drive you to , , , …..

You can divert your focus by reminding yourself rather than taking all the junk food, do take the super food that benefits your body like fruits, Vegetables, water, supplement… build your knowledge resources on food that can improve the quality of your life and body.

How to apply rule 2. into your mental?

When you get the so called mention “Action Signal”  from rule #1, you know your mind is triggering you that you are indulged with negativities. What shall you do?

take a step back, re-evaluate your situation, redirect/interrupt your dis-empowering patterns by giving yourself a different view on the problems.

try to enrich yourself by asking / talking Problem-Solving orientated question to yourself.

Example:

“What’s great about this?”

“What’s not perfect yet?”

“Is it worth that I put so much fuss on this?”

“Why do I need to care about other people?”

Questions is a powerful tool for your mind to bring your mind from point A to point B. Humans tends to discover themselves by asking question. Talk and ask more questions to yourself dudes!

.

.

Rule 3. For the next consecutive days, make your focus in life on SOLUTIONS not problems!

The minute you see a possible challenge, immediately focus on Solutions. Try adopt this as a daily routine in you, it will train your brain to be stronger than ever!

How this method can be link to food dieting:

When your eyes started to see fooooods and your mouth starts to be watery, instead of feeding your gluttony, turn your attention away from food by giving yourself massive EXERCISES … and take out lot’s and lot’s of sweat coming out from you . how can you become fat again if your simply adopt this method?

How to apply rule 3. into your mental?

Making it a habit to turn all the negatives in you away like doing exercises. You will have to train your mind constantly, turn all the negativity away and feed yourself with constructive ideas! train your mind until it becomes your reflexes in your body, once you get a negativity, identify it and throw in tons of Solutions!

.

.

Rule 4. If you backslide-repeat the process for another ten consecutive days

If you found yourself to be indulged on resourceful thoughts or feeling for a measurable length of time (I say measurable of time, it means to give you some time to recover), do another 10 more days of Mental Dieting!

.

.

.

So guys, this post will be the covenant between me and you… If you would like to take up the challenges, we shall remind each other! Together we will excel.
